And he’d been silent for almost five hours.”I really hate having my meals interrupted,” Penny moaned, rubbing her eyes.

Penny liked this meal at least as much as the first. She actually liked most of the restaurants in this district, aside from the ones owned by the mysterious boys she met on her way home. And sometimes, she even loved her meals there.

“I think I can get out of here by seven,” Penny answered, stretching her arms and rolling her shoulders. She thought she felt something strange, but didn’t know what. She sat down in the dining room chair and crossed her legs.

Penny was surprised when she heard a knock at the door.Penny, it’s Penny,” Penny jumped a little, but sighed.

“Oh, come on. You’re rude enough to start every sentence with my first name,” Penny smiled and took a sip of her wine. “C’mon in.”

Penny rolled her eyes when she heard Penny’s reply. She waited for the door to open, but it didn’t. The idea that Penny had stood to greet her was impossible. She was supposed to be lying in her bed, upset, like the other times she’d hung out with Penny.

Penny noticed Penny staring at her. Penny almost wanted to take it personally, but she knew it wasn’t. She didn’t think she knew enough about the other girl to be offended by her stare. She didn’t think Penny was angry with her. She just thought that Penny wanted to be friends.

“Um…” Penny was so confused that she needed to clear her throat. “I guess we’re not friends?”Penny’s frown deepened and Penny frowned even deeper.

She opened her mouth to respond but Penny seemed to understand her confusion. “I’m sorry, but we don’t have any other friends,” Penny shook her head and sighed.

“There isn’t anything I can do about it,” Penny sighed. “I don’t know how the two of you got friends in the first place.””It was a coincidence,” Penny explained. She paused for a moment and then smiled.

Penny was quiet for a moment, thinking about what Penny had said. Penny was very quiet after that, but Penny still noticed that Penny stayed in the dining room.Penny didn’t really want to be friends with Penny, but she knew she had to be.

After a few more minutes, Penny just got up and went to her room. Penny grabbed her dress and some of her accessories, but was surprised to see the black jewelry box on her bedside table.

She got the jewelry box and went to her closet, taking her dress off the hanger and setting it aside. She had a few pieces of clothing that fit her perfectly. She pulled the one closest, choosing to wear that instead of the dress.

She changed quickly and put on the jewelry box. Penny put the ring on her finger and held up the jeweled pendant. She slipped the jewelry box over her neck.

Penny put the ring back on her finger and turned to look at the jewelry box on her bedside table.

She closed her eyes and brought the jeweled box up to her ear. She knew she was supposed to hear something, but it didn’t sound at all like anything from the ring.

She took the jewelry box off her finger and opened it. The jeweled box felt warm, like the one in her hands.

Penny?” Penny spun around to see a tall, blond boy standing there. He looked about her age.

“Okay,” Penny replied. She closed the jewelry box and tucked it back into her dress. She reached for her dress and pulled it over her shoulders. She tried to wrap the dress around her but found it a little too short.

Penny opened her mouth to ask him to wait, but the boy was already out of the room and on his way out the door. Penny watched as he disappeared down the hallway.

“Your friend was very kind to invite me to your house, and I feel like I owe her a lot,” Penny said. “Your friend has a lot of friends, too.”

“That’s true,” Penny’s mouth was dry. She grabbed a glass and filled it with water.
