How to use the FAQ Schema Generator
- Write each question on its own line with its answer on the next line, and separate each pair with a blank line. You can also prefix lines with
Q:andA:if you prefer. - Generate the schema. The tool builds a single
FAQPageblock containing every question and its accepted answer. - Copy the ready-made
<script type="application/ld+json">tag, or just the JSON-LD if your SEO plugin has a dedicated field. - Make sure the same questions and answers are also visible on the page, then paste the tag into the HTML.
- Confirm it with the Schema Markup Validator before you publish.
Understanding your results
The script block. This is the complete, copy-ready tag. One FAQPage block per page is all you need — it tells Google the page is a list of questions and answers, which can earn an expandable FAQ rich result under your listing.
The JSON-LD only. Most SEO plugins (Yoast, Rank Math) and page builders have a field for raw JSON-LD. If yours does, paste just this part instead of the full <script> tag so you do not end up with two wrappers.
The table. This shows exactly which questions and answers were parsed, so you can confirm nothing was split in the wrong place before you ship it.
The short-answer flag. Google expects the FAQ answer to be the real, complete answer a visitor reads — not a one-word stub. If an answer is very short, the tool flags it so you can expand it.
How this tool works
The generator never fetches anything. It reads the text you paste, splits it into question and answer pairs, escapes it safely, and assembles valid schema.org FAQPage JSON-LD. Because it is built from your own input, the output is deterministic and private — the same text always produces the same markup.
It does not invent content. If an answer is missing, that pair is skipped. For validating markup you already have, or markup on a live URL, use the Schema Markup Validator; to review the rest of the page's head, use the Meta Tag Checker.
Tips
- Match the page exactly. The questions and answers in your markup must be visible on the page too. FAQ markup for content a visitor cannot see is against Google's guidelines and can cost you the rich result.
- One FAQPage per page. Do not add multiple FAQ blocks; combine everything into one.
- Keep answers complete. A full sentence or two reads better to visitors and to Google than a clipped fragment.
- Plain text answers. Avoid stuffing links or HTML into answers; keep them to the words a reader needs.
- Re-validate after edits. Any time you change the on-page FAQ, regenerate and re-check the markup so the two stay in sync.
Frequently asked questions
What is FAQ schema?
FAQ schema is a small piece of structured data (FAQPage JSON-LD) that labels a list of questions and their answers on your page. Search engines read it to understand the content and may show the questions directly in the search result.
Will this get me the FAQ rich result in Google?
It makes your page eligible, but eligibility is not a guarantee. Google now shows FAQ rich results mainly for authoritative government and health sites, and chooses when to display them. Valid markup that matches visible content gives you the best chance.
Do the questions have to be on the page?
Yes. The exact questions and answers in the markup must be visible to visitors on that page. Marking up hidden or different content breaks Google's rules.
Can I use HTML inside an answer?
Keep answers as plain text here. Schema allows limited HTML in an answer, but plain, complete sentences are the safest and most portable choice.
Is there a limit on how many questions I can add?
You can add many; the tool caps a single block at 100 questions, which is far more than any real page needs. Keep it to the questions that genuinely belong on that page.
